About Phil:

I’ve been working with the human body for more than 15 years, 10 years and counting as a Licensed Massage Therapist. I’ve combined my years of hands-on experience with my knowledge and study of Martial Arts, Ancient Medicine Practices, Philosophy, and Manual Therapy Methods to create Stoic Bodywork. My own personal set of techniques and methods for working with the human system. More than just therapeutic work it is an ever growing philosophy to better understand myself and others. I define ‘Self’ in 3 pieces; Body, Mind and Spirit. Each of which are their own health bodies working in conjunction to make up our human systems. Keeping those systems working correctly can be challenging, but Stoic Bodywork is here to help. I’m passionate about using my years of study and practice to help others balance their body, open their mind and awaken their spirit.

self: the physical body

You’re a complex system full of trillions of cells, bacteria and other organisms all just trying to survive. The body is an amazing thing, but sometimes it needs a little help. Bodywork reminds the body of the issues so it can get it's balance back.

self: the mind

Our minds are the control center for the translations between our physical forms and the worlds around us. The home of our depression and the form we refer to as ‘I’. As the encyclopedia, dictionary and thesaurus of our worlds, sometimes we just need to open it up.

self: the spirit

All ancient teachings speak of a third health body. Often referred to as ‘spirit’ or ‘soul’, it is part of us, a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us. The spirit awakens when we are balanced and open and is then expressed through everything we do.

tai chi & Qigong classes

Tai chi and Qigong are wonderful low impact health practices. They help increase circulation, maintain and improve flexibility, as well as teach us about our bodies all while exercising our minds.

Meditation is awareness of breath.

Learning to control our breathing allows us to take control of the autonomous nervous system. The part of our system that regulates many different functions in the body.
